I belong to a Georgette Heyer 'List', where we chat about her books. Each year we have a Card exchange, and I like to make cards using fashion plates from the era (Regency). There were three or four magazines for ladies at the time, the best being Ackermann's Repository. The French Costume Parisien also has splendid plates, although their ladies look to be about 8-foot tall.
Here is this year's card.
Back in 1966, around two years before I started my A Level English course where we had to study Emma by Jane Austen, my sister began her English course. Her syllabus included Pride and Prejudice, lucky think! . It was my introduction to an author who was to influence my preferences all through my life. Around the same time, my sister and I discovered Georgette Heyer and worked our way through all her Regency novels. Sadly only one or two of these original books remain but, a few years ago, a very dear friend passed away at only 50 years of age and her mother gave me her complete (paperback) collection. I began reading them all over again. What a treat.
ReplyDeleteI love what you have done with the book cover. I would never have thought of doing this. I especially love the way you made it Christmassy but, sadly, that's way out of my capabilities so I am really glad to be able to share yours. Thank you.
