Early French Revolution Dresses

Some of these dresses were made of such sheer fabric (often muslin) the ladies claimed the entire dress would fit in a teacup.

  1. I've done quite a bit of research and found that the sheer dresses were actually only for the elite. Women of working class did not mainly because they only had two dresses, one to wear and one for church. They would wear their church dress for parties. But to think of wearing a see-through dress today would be scandalous!
